As Ingrin Academy of Printing and Graphics celebrates its 31st year, it is my privilege to reflect on our legacy and continued dedication to the printing and graphics industry. Founded by the late Hon. Kingsley T. Wickramaratne, Ingrin has empowered over 31,000 individuals with practical, industry-relevant skills, building a strong reputation as a leader in technical education.
We remain committed to staying ahead of technological advancements, continually updating our curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the industry. A key focus now is not only training new entrants but also retaining and upskilling experienced industry professionals, helping them adapt to modern printing technologies and software. We are proud to have awarded over 8,000 scholarships to economically challenged youth, empowering them with opportunities for a brighter future.
In line with this, we are introducing a one-year part-time training program specifically designed for science and management graduates. This course, with 60% theory and 40% hands-on experience, covers printing processes, estimating, digital printing, paper technology, and production management. Practical exposure includes offset and flexographic printing, binding machinery, and visits to suppliers of ink, paper, and chemicals. Supported by foreign funding, the program provides a stipend and guarantees employment upon completion, strengthening the future workforce.
Our success is made possible through the leadership of our Managing Director, Mr. Ananda E. Wickramaratne, the commitment of our faculty, and the support of our partners—the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging, the Sri Lanka Association of Printers, and the International Advertising Association.
We look forward to deeper collaboration with industry stakeholders to build a future-ready, skilled workforce and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sector.
Mr. Lal Jayawardene
